This music style is not only phenomenal, but an art of both triumph and sensuous series of foot and body movements. Many people associate its origin with Latin and Caribbean countries.
“Salsa dance is phenomenal. It is an engaging conversation between two people who are guided by the rhythmic music as well as the thrill of dancing. ” Kelvin Tuei, patron of Chuka University Salsa Club says.
This dance entails establishing a rhythmic connection not just partner egotistically performing complex moves to make a show. It is interesting to note that it is a team work of unspoken commitment that
involves, ”seducing” the crowd and yourselves too on stage. It is never that serious, it’s just about dancing and letting go.
In the public domain, the mention of salsa dance more often sends airwaves of romance and dating. However, this is not always the case. Anyone who has mastered the basic salsa steps can dance with any other
person: probably a total stranger. The thrill of salsa dance is that no matter where you go, the steps are counted the same way. In addition, it is lively dance music with a variety of styles. Salsa may be danced with a partner, in line dancing called Suelta or in a circle called Rueda de Casino.
Salsa debut in Chuka University
The peak of Salsa’s popularity in Chuka University happened after an event during which Kelvin Tuei performed a Suelta (line dancing). So noble was this course that Chuka University fraternity began embracing this dance. Five years down the line, Chuka University Salsa Club has attracted many members and have had innumerable chances to showcase different dance styles at different stages.

Mr. Tuei says that one of the emphasis is feeling the song: literally letting the rhythm the lyrics flow in your blood vessels. Being adventurous and mysterious too, while dancing in what is called freestlying has helped build confidence as well as improve on creativity. Maintaining eye contact and smiling while dancing is a
great confidence booster.
Salsa is not only about mastering the steps and moves in a sequence but also enjoying it. This means your audience should be able to witness how much you enjoy the dance.
