The quake was registered at 4.8 MB in
Wundanyi town, Taita Taveta County, Kenya.
Reports indicate that the tremors are an
aftermath of a stronger 6.3 magnitude earthquake that stroke Indonesia, before
the waves travelled to the eastern sides of Africa, Kenya included.
No need to panic
It is just an earth tremor given that our
campus and Kenya at large lie in an active geological zone. With the Great Rift
Valley a few hundred kilometres away, earth tremors are a common phenomenon.
Precaution:
In case things go sideways (who knows
when?) given a powerful quake, walk (do not run) to an open field. Running may
cause stampedes especially in populous areas.
