CHUKA UNIVERSITY TO TURN TO STUDENT BIOMETRIC.
Chuka University will join the growing number of schools that have opted to run along with technology by tendering and installing the student biometrics sign-in system and CCTV cameras to monitor their students.
Students walking into University using their gatepass |
This comes after the outcry by many student leaders and university students in general who were opposed to the gate-pass system where one was issued with a gatepass after full fee for that semester was paid. This meant that if one had not paid any fee for the semester or cleared any balance he/she would not access the school's facilities and attend any lecturers in general.
So what are the benefits of this system? One of them being security.CCTV cameras installed in various parts of the school also monitor the students movement within the institution, making it easy to tell when they are in the wrong place.
One of the schools that have really benefited from this system is State House Girls whose students use the system to sign-in into the school. Once the student places a finger on the touchpad, a message is sent to the parents that their student has reported to school.
This new sign-in will be interesting in Chuka. How will comrades accept this new change? Will it last?
Students have up to the 25th to get registered to this system.
